Sometimes, when people seem to be personally self-disciplined, they cleverly arrange their lives to entirely avoid a bad situation where they might be lacking in self-control, and be personally undisciplined. Sometimes, what some people do is purposefully don’t put themselves into any situation where they actually need self-control and personal discipline. To avoid being in an embarrassing situation of being undisciplined, they purposefully avoid any possibility of needing to be self-controlled.
Exerting self-control is mentally exhausting, since self-discipline is a limited resource that quickly decreases and then disappears. Therefore, carefully arrange your daily routine to automatically avoid uncomfortable situations, and divide each personal goal into tiny, step-by-step achievements.
When trying to improve your life, don’t narrowly focus on being self-controlled. Instead, narrowly focus on your ability to properly downsize and shrink your personal goals, all of them, into teeny tiny, step-by-step situations that are easy and doable. Then each day, when it is time for you to step up to the next rung on your ladder, this powerful moment of change is easily attainable.
Therefore, in this manner, achieving your life goals isn’t about drastically improving your self-discipline or self-control. You have divided your goal into tiny, step-by-step portions. Each day, at your moment of action, your tiny goal is very easily doable, and therefore you are not tempted to ignore it. The tiny goal that you have for today is so very small, that there’s no personal stress. Each day, you can comfortably move up to the next step, as you travel along your pathway, on your journey towards achieving your personal hopes and dreams.
For example, maybe your goal is to study for one hour daily. Instead of setting the timer for 60 minutes, set the timer for one minute. Then the next day, set the timer to study for 2 minutes. The next day, 3 minutes. The next day, 4 minutes. Each day, add one more minute, to increase your time. Also, every day along the way, you can be joyfully celebrating your incremental win. Eventually, in an enjoyable and comfortable manner, and without tremendous stress, you will achieve your goal.
Dividing a bigger goal into tiny, step-by-step achievements is an easily doable strategy, for you to enjoy a comfortable, delightful journey, as you work daily to transform your personal dream into a living reality.
